First Half of the Year: Must Play Games
Written by Jose Pernalete on May 1, 2020
After the first month of the year, it is pretty much a tradition for new games to start slowly to come out. But still, there are tons of people with new consoles after the holidays, and they probably are eager to know which new titles to expect from their favorite new consoles and PCs.
There are tons of exciting games coming out this year, so many that naming them all here would make up for a ridiculously long article. So to keep things short and simple, we’re going to be cutting them down to the most exciting new releases only, no compilation of games (such as Mega Man Zero/ZX Legacy collection) will be included. We are counting some remakes here though, but enough talk, let’s get into this already
Persona 5 Scramble – February 20, PS4 / Nintendo Switch
A new spin-off of Persona 5 is coming early this year with Persona 5 Scramble. Unlike the traditional RPG gameplay of the main persona games, this time it’s a mix between Persona 5 and Dynasty Warrior. Set six months after the events of Persona 5 as the Phantom Thieves of Hearts end up in a messed up version of Tokyo where they have to face supernatural enemies.
Animal Crossing: New Horizons – March 20, Nintendo Switch
The long wait is almost over, as the new Animal Crossing is almost here. The first title in the series for Nintendo’s main home console is finally here. In New Horizons you’ll be able to decorate, build and explore your island as you make sure to keep everything clean, everyone happy and most of all, relax and have a good time with one of the comfiest games around.
Doom Eternal – March 20, PS4 / Xbox One / PC / Stadia
The very same day as Animal Crossing we get pretty much the opposite game too. The sequel to pretty much the best game of 2016, Doom Eternal seems to be bigger, faster, more violent, more extreme and overall better than its predecessor. One of the most exciting action games and the fifth main entry in the series.
Persona 5 Royal – March 31, PS4
Yes, another persona 5 title made it into the list, but let’s face it, Persona 5 is simply amazing. This is not a completely new game but rather an enhanced edition. Just like the Persona, 4 Golden was to Persona 4, Persona 5 Royale adds new characters, new social links, new story, a whole new semester and much more. It even adds PS4 Pro support.
Resident Evil 3 – April 3, PS4 / Xbox One / PC
A new remake comes in for the Resident Evil series, a lot like RE2, this one is completely redone, with amazing visuals and completely new game style and content. Considering how amazing RE2 turned out, there’s a lot to be excited about RE3 coming out this April.
Final Fantasy VII Remake – April 10, PS4
Finally, after many, many years of waiting, the remake of FFVII is here… kind of. After many cancellations, star overs and every incident you can imagine, one of the most awaited remakes will be hitting the stores this April. But only the “first episode” will, as it turns out that they’ve decided to break the game into episodes
The Last of Us Part II – May 29, PS4
Finally, the sequel to what’s considered to be one of the best games of all time is here. The Last Of Us delivered an epic story of a post-apocalyptic world and how Joey and Ellie survived on it. Now it’s set five years after the first one, and a 19 years old Ellie, here we are getting a love story, blood, a weird cult and lots of violence
