What the Term Skinny Legend Means

Being called skinny legend is just as a compliment as it sounds. If you think this is an offensive term then you must be sensitive.

You may wonder where does this term come from? I’m hoping you don’t know what it means to be a skinny legend because that would ruin the whole purpose of this article.

If you have heard of this term, then I’m not sure where you’ve read this. It’s a term that is currently being widely spread as we speak and understand.  As far as I know, this term is being used by all the meme “iconic” accounts on Twitter. “Skinny Legend, “ is used in tweets, status, captions, social media profile bio’s, and soon people’s grave.

I’ve used this term a couple of times, been called a show off for being a college student using big words. I’ve realized that this term is not a permanent word in my vocabulary. It’s a permanent word in my internet vocabulary where I can talk about amongst every social media platform, but never in real life. Skinny legend is one of those terms that must only be used online. It’s that exclusive.

Origin

According to Urban Dictionary, the reliable source of the hipster world, it was a term coined in calling Mariah Carey for being Mariah Carey being educated, talented, and beautiful self no matter what’s her weight. For example, if Mariah Carey would be seen walking down the street with her tight, expensive dress and jewelry. The appropriate word for such an act like that, you’d call her a skinny legend. If you’re stumbling upon Donald Trump on the street, you’d call him a whore, and you’d never be calling him a skinny legend.

Mariah Carey would be so influential that she’d be on the cover of Times magazine with the headline, “Skinny Legend Does it Again.”

However, this word mostly comes from millennials. Millennials have always been responsible for creating new words into the English dictionary that we must all follow or else the rest would be left out from all the fun. Other words formed by millennials include meme, catfish, Netflix and chill, and my personal favorite, ratchet. If you compare Skinny legend than any other millennial created word, skinny legend would be the most used.

According to most sources, Skinny Legend comes from Mariah Carey’s fan base around the world. What had happened was that a fan responded to Tomi Lauren tweeting, “Mariah is skinny. Fuck blue lives!” Moreover, then fans were like, “Haha! You are right tho. Mariah is skinny. She’s a legend! A skinny legend! oMg! New meme!” Yes, that’s how millennials speak on Twitter. They didn’t exactly say that, but the idea is that millennials say this term being used in that sentence, and loved it as one would expect.

Ever since this day, Twitter has never been the same, and this term has been used by social media influences, teachers, your next door neighbor, and probably your mom. If not now, then it will sooner than better.

Definition

Skinny legend is an Adjective, but never a verb. If someone uses skinny myth as a verb, watch out because it could be a scam and you’ll never make it out alive. For example, if you’re at the doctor’s office for boob implants and the doctor says, “I’m gonna skinny legend you.” Run! Run! Run! Becoming a skinny legend comes naturally, never forced.

There are many definitions for this term but to break it down, being called a skinny legend has the same equivalence as being called a title, you’re just a skinny one by definition. In my opinion, it’s a huge compliment being called a skinny legend. You’re called a skinny legend and next thing you know you’re signing autographs on stranger’s asses. The irony.

I’ve seen on twitter this term also being used as a way to make fun of them for being fat. The latest victim of this is Raini Rodriguez. However, she’s only being called a skinny legend on twitter because she’s gotten hate in the past by teenagers for being big so calling her a skinny legend is being ignorant. Just call her a legend. Then a skinny legend!

This term could also be used in efforts to make a fat person feel good about themselves too. Imagine a plus-sized model, after a long day at work, they go on their Instagram account comment section, and they see comments and comments of being called a skinny legend. This plus sized model won’t feel fat. Instead, they would feel good about themselves. Being called a skinny legend could even be life-changing as you can now never be invited or also considered fat if you’re a skinny legend.

Influence

Now, everyone is being called a skinny legend. The list of celebrities being called a skinny legend include Lady Gaga, Selena Gomez, Demi Lovato, Trisha Paytas, Beyonce, and Britney Spears.

As you are probably assuming, basically anyone can become a skinny legend. There are just some rules to it. One: You can’t call yourself a skinny legend until someone claims you to be a skinny legend. Two: After named a skinny legend, you cannot go back. Three: All skinny legends must be nice people and never have huge egos. Not everyone can become a skinny legend, and we don’t want anybody showing off they are a skinny legend.

So now that you’re educated, you are ready to use this big word out in the world. My advice to you is to be careful how you use it. You wouldn’t want to give anybody too much power using big words and such. Name someone a skinny legend on people who matter.

If you want to become a skinny legend: wait. Your time will come. Until then, be yourself. Dress however and next thing you know, you’ll be down the street, and you’ll be called a skinny legend.
