Review for the Resident Evil Village: Maiden Demo

Written by on February 23, 2021

Resident Evil’s latest entry, RE: Village, has every single fan of the series excited. Even lots of newcomers that haven’t played the game before are interested in it now after the first few trailers were released over the course of the past few months. The game was announced a fairly long time ago, but there was little to no gameplay since then. This has changed now though, with the gameplay trailer that was released in early 2021. This trailer also revealed the Resident Evil Village: Maiden demo, which we’ll be reviewing today.

Reviewing the RE Village: Maiden Demo

Available to try out completely free of any cost for all those that own a PlayStation 5, the Resident Evil Village: Maiden demo is a brilliant example of just what a big step forward the new consoles are for all of gaming. Thanks to the highly powerful and impressive RE Engine, the demo features beautiful graphics and visuals that are truly breathtaking at times. The advancements in technology have allowed Capcom to create the truly brilliant horror experience they’ve always wanted to make.

This is pretty easy to see after users play the Resident Evil Village: Maiden demo. You’ll find that a lot of people might say that the demo was unimpressive because it didn’t feature any type of action right until the very end. These people completely miss the point of the demo, as its job is to simply show what the environment and atmosphere of RE Village have in store for players, including just how eerie the game can get.

The demo is also meant to be completely cut off from the main game according to the developers themselves. While it features the same environments and same antagonists, the short and disturbing story told in the Resident Evil Village: Maiden demo isn’t meant to hold any importance in the main game. In short, it is only a visual demo that lets users enjoy the great horrific atmosphere of RE: Village before the game finally releases in May 2021.

Lastly, it is worth noting that the demo also introduces players to one of the main antagonists which you’re likely already familiar with. We’re talking of course about Lady Dumitrescu, who the entire internet has been fantasizing about lately. She looks to be as deadly as you would expect a Resident Evil villain to be, and it must be said that the RE Village: Maiden demo does its job of building up the anticipation for the main game perfectly.
