The sudden death of Kobe Bryant in January 26, 2020 (just at the age of 41) shocked the entire basketball world. He was one of the few athletes in all sports who turned into a legend and was an idol for millions of children who loved basketball.
Every beginning is difficult. In his first season in the NBA (1996-1997), Kobe Bryant had minimal participation time (just 15 minutes) as he was only 18 years old and did not even played at the NCAA.
In the playoffs of that season, LA Lakers faced Utah Jazz in the semifinals of the western region. Utah Jazz lead by 3-1 victories, LA Lakers were looking for a miracle in the “Vivint Smart Home Arena”.
In the last and most critical match, Shaquille O’Neal was sent off with 6 fouls shortly before the end of the game. The teenager “Black Mamba” as he was called by his coach, became the hero for his team. According to LA Lakers coach Del Harris, Kobe was ideal for the current situation for 1 vs 1.

However, Bryant was not ready, as a result, he made 4 air ball in the last moments of the game. His team was excluded and the hostile crowd of Utah Jazz fans was celebrating his every failure.
This would strain the psychology of every teenage athlete, but not Koby’s. According to him, when the team returned to its base, he called Sony Vakaros. When Sony asked him how he felt after the bad development in Utah, Kobe replied, “Let them go fuck themselves. I was the only one who dared to take responsibility.”
Since then, Koby Bryant worked very hard. This sport selfishness and incredible winning mentality allowed him to be a legendary player and he is considered as the second greatest basketball player of all time after Michael Jordan.
