Will Bohemian Rhapsody movie rock you?

Written by on November 16, 2018

After many, many years of countless rumors about a Queen based move, we finally got it, it’s finally here, and it’s rocking the box office as well as the band’s fan base, that’s for sure.

Bohemian Rhapsody manages to be about as glamorous as a Queen movie has to be. As well as hitting all the ups and downs in the life of one of the biggest and most famous band in the world, we get to see the highlights and dark moments of being Queen, even though they did not address the whole Mercury’s AIDS and his denial of it to pretty much the very end.

And talking about Freddie Mercury, probably one of the best singers there has ever been, it’s pretty safe to say that Queen fans will not be disappointed at Rami Malek’s performance. Mr. Robot actor did an amazing full body representation of the star, to a level that may even surpass the famous Jamie Foxx interpretation of Ray Charles (which, by the way, got him an Academy Award). There is a special thing actors have to keep in mind when playing a well-known real life character, and that’s that they have to still be full three dimensional characters, and not just carton pictures of the person, they don’t just have to look like the person, but rather understand the person.

Actors don’t have to mimic a person movement’s but understand why they move like they do, or speak the way they do, and Malek does an impressive job at this. Pretty much bringing the beloved singer back to life.

The way the movie captures every character’s feelings is as exciting as a Queen concert. Speaking of which, the performance scenes, especially the main performance of the movie, the Live Aid concert at Wembley Stadium are shot in a way so realistic, but also so “magical” that they are a blast of emotion, Nailing the performance of not only Mercury’s showman style, but all of the band members are represented carefully in order to give the exact same vibe as a real Queen show.

Of course, even though you could pretty much say that the movie is about Freddie Mercury, you’ll see that he could have never been what he was without his band. So a huge part of the film is just to see how the band got along, why they got together in the first place as well as understanding the creative genius of all band members. The cast completely delivers a chemistry full performance, giving you the idea they could even be a great rock band too.

At the end of the day, you may be wondering “should I really go watch the film?” and we think there is really only one right answer to that question: Yes, totally. The movie is pretty well made, with excellent cinematography and mind blowing performances, you will not regret watching it. This movie WILL rock you, so get ready.
