Upcoming Netflix Series

Written by on September 9, 2020

We all know this whole year has been crazy and the global pandemic has pushed back all the major movie releases and many shows, too. Luckily, Netflix has managed to keep producing some new episodes and series, so we actually can make a list of upcoming series for the next couple of months. Netflix had an incredible rise in its viewers, and people being stuck at home in all around the world clearly has something to do with it. With all that new audience, they have an even bigger responsibility,  so, let’s check out what Netflix has in store for us in the next two months.

blankAway – September 4

Netflix doesn’t have a good story when it comes to space-based series, so it’s kinda delicate when it comes to a new one. In Away, Astronaut Emma Green is preparing an international crew for the first crewed mission to Mars. But doing so she must cope with leaving her husband and teenage daughter on Earth. As the journey goes deeper into space, the personal feelings of the entire crew are more agitated at the thought of possibly never seeing their families back on earth ever again.

blankJulie and the Phantoms – September 10

Julie is a high schooler that lost her passion for music after her mother died. But suddenly the ghosts of three musicians from 1995 appear in her mother’s old music studio. With their help, her love for music gets rekindled as she starts singing and composing songs again. The ghosts actually convince her to form a band together and that’s how Julie and the Phantom start.

blankDragon’s Dogma – September 18

Netflix has seen some success when adapting other mediums into their shows, this is true especially with The Witcher. But when they adapted Castlevania, a highly popular video game, was adapted into Netflix they did it as an animated series. Now Netflix is adapting Dragon’s Dogma, a fantasy action-RPG released in recent years.

blankRatched – September 18th

And speaking of Netflix adapting other content into original series, this is similar to that, only that instead of adapting content, they are creating a prequel here. By the producer Ryan Murphy comes to Ratched, a psychological horror drama series that will function as a prequel for the 1962’s novel One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest (and probably also a prequel to the movie based on the novel). Here we’ll see the origin story of an asylum nurse called Mildred Ratched, as she arrives at her job leading a psychiatric hospital where they begin making new unsettling experiments on the patients.

blankDeaf U – October 9

Deaf U is the only series we have confirmation of release date in October, even though there are many other ones announced for that month. This is a docuseries following the daily lives of four students from Gallaudet University. Netflix loves to talk about diversity, and this is a type of diversity that’s often left out in the conversation. So it is nice to see some insight into these students and how they cope with their day to day lives.

There are plenty more Netflix series and movies announced for these months, however, there are not that many official dates for their premiere. That’s why we only went for the confirmed ones, so make sure you mark the dates on your calendar and get ready to binge-watch some of these.
