Triboulet’s Interview

Written by on March 11, 2019

Part of what makes a musician is the ability to rise to the occasion and strive to achieve something meaningful, even if the whole world can make such goal very difficult. This is particularly true to Metal bands in Latin America there’s not much of a structure to support this genre, so attitude, determination and perseverance are a necessity.

Triboulet is a Power Metal band from Chile and they have been around since 2012, constantly improving and working towards their goals. We had a short interview where we discussed multiple subjects regarding the band, their influences, their musical progression and a lot more. Hope you enjoy it.

Thank you very much for having you here, guys. It is a pleasure. I want to start from the beginning. How did you become interested in the world of Metal and why did you decide to become musicians?

First of all, thank you very much for this interview! While we are a diverse band in terms of age, each one of us has a long time connected to Metal music. We all got into this world with the same dynamics. At some point in our lives we came into the possession of an album that marked us forever. It is a matter of seconds when you realize that what you are hearing generates unique sensations in your body.Little by little you fall in love with the style, until you want to be part of that story and decide to build your way through melodies.

How was Triboulet formed, for those who are not familiar with the band?

Nicolás, our keyboardist, formed Triboulet in August of 2012. The idea was to create a Power Metal band that will rescue the classic elements of the style, but with its own sound. Since then, a great amount of time has passed. We also change the line-up, but above all, gained a lot of experience and maturity to create a sound that characterizes the band.

What are your biggest influences? The albums, groups and musicians that have inspired you the most over the years?

Our influences are varied. From Metal through Rock to Funk. Over the years, we have expanded our personal tastes. Also being a band with six members, this range is further expanded. This has allowed us not to abuse the influences and build a sound with its own aesthetic.

What is the current situation of Triboulet? What do you have in store this year in terms of concerts and new music?

For us 2019 will be an intense year. We are currently working on the promotion of our album, Quest for Hope.We released this album in December of 2018. In this sense, we are looking for concerts to show our album, a lot of contact with specialized media and dissemination through digital platforms.

In terms of music, we would like to publish a couple of new songs. Also venturing with the recording of a video clip.

You are obviously a Chilean band. What are the most common challenges and setbacks like a Metal band that is starting in Latin America?

The biggest challenge of a Metal band in Latin America is the lack of a solid infrastructure to grow. With the term infrastructure we refer not only to physical facilities, but also everything that surrounds it, being this technical staff, support staff, hiring managers, and copyright specialists, among others. This means that bands with great potential do not find the necessary foundations to grow in this industry, not because of lack of talent or something similar, but because of the lack of a scene that pushes development.

Anyway, for us all this is not a limitation in terms of landing our expectations, our motivation and commitment is to deliver the best material and give everything.

In terms of promotion, what strategies have you made for your music to reach different countries? How have the results been?

We are working a lot on social networks. With the direct contact of potential followers. We recently joined Instagram and we intend to strengthen this network. In the same way, we have worked with specialized media for the dissemination of Quest for Hope, whether through reviews, interviews, etc.

In terms of results, we have been progressing little by little. We believe that we are on a good path.

Triboulet could be considered a Power Metal band, which is a genre not well known for its innovation. Can we expect more experimentation in their sound on their next album?

We are convinced that all genres have, to some extent, elements that are fundamental. Whether Progressive, Gothic, Thrash, or Power, there is a range when composing. To leave this range is to change aesthetics.

Indeed, our first album, The March of The Fallen, has all the elements to be cataloged as a work of Power Metal. Our innovation was to include elements of electronics and a modern aesthetic.

At our last album, Quest for Hope, adds new musical elements, using Progressive Metal structures and combining vintage with modern sounds. In this way, we create a new and innovative proposal, but without losing the sound we have developed throughout the years.

Without a doubt, in the future we will continue looking for elements that differentiate us.It is part of our DNA.

Of all your studio productions, which one are you most proud of?

Quest for Hope is the most ambitious production to date.We are really proud of what we achieved with that album.

In terms of touring, have you had the chance to play outside of Chile? Has the opportunity presented itself?

Chile has a relatively small scene to sustain a Power Metal band.Among our objectives for this year is to have a global reach. As far as possible, present our proposal outside of Chile.Everything will depend on the conditions that arise.

During the promotion of our first album, The March of the Fallen, there was the possibility of playing outside of Chile. The cost structure made this adventure not viable.

For you, what defines a musician?

Definitely attitude! The attitude to project it on a stage. The attitude to provoke something in your follower. The attitude receive criticism and work on it.Attitude makes the difference.

Thank you very much guys. We appreciate your time. Any message you want to leave for our readers? Where can we follow you on social networks?

Thank you very much for this opportunity! We also thank you for reading this interview. We invite you to follow us on Spotify, and our social networks.Be part of this story where you can be the protagonist.

Until next time!
