Top 10 Most Expected Movies for 2019

Written by on November 19, 2018

It’s hard to believe that 2018 is almost over, and wow it has been an epic ride in pretty much any aspect. We’ve had amazing and terrible movies. Giving it a quick look it’s easy to see that the main and most popular genre is the superhero/Sci-fi, the general interest in this genre has made its triple A movies something incredible, a pop culture movement never seen before.

Now, 2019 will be a beast of movies, so it was really hard to pick only ten upcoming films, however we did our best to compile the public interest into the Top Ten Upcoming Films of 2019, so enough talk, let’s get to it!

10- Glass

While director M. Nigh Shyamalan was having some downs in his career, 2016’s Split was definitely something different. Now comes a “third part” to this completely unexpected saga. This movie is set to tie in both Unbreakable and Split into one very odd “super hero” scenario, with Glass (played by Samuel L. Jackson) as main villain and protagonist, so be sure to keep an eye out for this one!

9- Shazam!

Director David F. Sandberg, best known for his horror films Lights Out and Annabelle also gets into the superhero universe, under the DC flag directing Shazam! A movie about a teen that receives the power to transform into a superhuman adult with super-strength, flight ability and more.

8- It: Chapter Two

Last year’s It was an unexpected blockbuster. Since its announcement, Stephen King fans and pretty much everybody was completely into it, and it quickly became the best-selling horror movie. The first movie only covers the first half of Stephen King’s novel, more specifically the childhood part. Now we go 30 years later, with our kids already being adults and facing the same fear once again, with a great cast and Bill Skarsgård returning for his role of Pennywise, or rather It, the shapeshifting creature

7- Spider-Man: Far from Home

This movie itself could be kind of a spoiler but we’ll have to wait and see it for ourselves. The sequel to the Sony’s 2015 reboot of our friendly neighborhood arachnid friend. Spider-Man could be the best-known superhero around, so a new movie is always something huge, with Tom Holland returning as Spidey facing Jake Gyllenhaal’s Mysterio.

6- Godzilla: King of the Monsters

After the first real American Godzilla (it’s better to pretend the other thing never happened), Gareth Edwards rebooted the legendary kaiju movie of, well, Godzilla into an amazing new monster universe to be built in future movies. This time we’ll get to see the King of monsters itself fight some of its legendary enemies such as Rodan and King Ghidorah, so let them fight

5- Star Wars Episode IX

While there are a lot of unknown things about this episode of the sequel, for the last couple of years we’ve been seeing the new Star Wars universe, many fans of the saga are eager to see what happens next now that J.J. Abrams is back on the director’s chair instead o Rian Johnson, who directed the controversial episode VIII.

4- Pokémon Detective Pikachu

There are pretty much countless Pokémon fans around the world, and with a live action movie of the Pokémon universe coming for the first time ever, it’s no surprise to see a pretty big crown pretty much already lining up to see the movie, specially one with Ryan Reynolds as Pikachu himself!

3- Toy Story 4

Even though many people once thought that the saga of our childhood dreams of toys was brought to an end with the third part a few years ago and ending with that melancholic note, we got a surprise when this movie was announced, now it seems to be an ending for the saga, for real this time.

2- Captain Marvel

For the first time ever, marvel brings a female lead superhero to the big screen. Brie Larson plays the role of Carol Danvers, Air Force pilot that receives super powers. Though the movie takes place in the 90’s we will get some answers to open questions left in Avengers Infinity War, speaking of which…

And now, for the number one most awaited movie of 2019…

Avengers 4

You totally saw that one coming right? Well, it’s no surprise this movie gets the first place in our list. This year everybody was in complete shock with Avengers Infinity War, and we are all excited to see how our heroes turn the events into something better and defeat Thanos somehow. The movie was almost the best-selling movie of all time, so the sequel completely deserves the first place in this list, it’s terribly sad that the co-creator of The Avengers Stan Lee won’t be around for the premiere, but we hope this ending to the most popular saga in the world does him justice. Excelsior!
