Grand Rezerva – Walk

2020 was a tough year for everybody on many different levels, but it was also very productive for many artists and that is certainly the case of the Swedish band Grand Rezerva, who have been regular of us for a while now.

They are back with a brand new single called Walk and these are good news because I was certainly eager of listening what they had in store after songs like Hellbound or Nowhere Bound. And the truth is that with Grand Rezerva you know what you are getting: pure and straightforward Hard Rock with good melodies and intensity. That’s it and that’s great.

But there is a little nice twist with Walk compared to the previous singles they have released: this track in particular is even more straightforward than what they have done before and I would even go as far as saying that it has a certain Punk influence. And while I’m not the biggest Punk fan out there beyond a couple of bands, I have to say that the guys of Grand Rezerva know how to pull it off and it sounds great in that regard.

The vocals not only sound catchy and with quality to spare, but they also have something very important: charisma. A lot of singers, while great in their own right, tend to struggle when trying to inject a bit of personality to what they are doing but this is not the case with this case and Walk is a perfect example of how music is not only how it is made but also how is delivered.

I personally love the pace of the song. I’m a fan of fast-paced songs and this one does the trick for me. It is quite fast but with a good groove and it is combined perfectly with the vocals, which leads to a very pleasant listening experience. This is mostly due to how the riffs carry the weight of the song for large portions of the whole thing.

And above all things, the song is catchy as hell. You only need to listen to it one time to fully enjoy it and become addictive to it. I always maintained that Grand Rezerva have a knack of writing quality accessible Hard Rock and Walk is a very good example of that. They know what they can do and they do it right, which is something a lot of bands tend to struggle with.

Overall, a very introduction for Grand Rezerva in 2021 and I’m looking forward to what they have in store in the near future.
