Grand Rezerva – Ashes to Ashes

It’s always fun to listen to a Grand Rezerva song because they are such a well-defined band: they know what they want to achieve and deliver in tremendous fashion. Such an example is their entertaining new single, Ashes to Ashes.

We only need the melodic introduction to get into that classic Hard Rock style that this Swedish group has developed during their ten years of career and is revealed here with tremendous expertise, with the guitar working perfectly balanced between aggressiveness and melody. The vocals are clean, charismatic and straight to the point.

Grand Rezerva is the type of a band that I qualify as a “road group”. This is a band that is perfectly suited to listen to when you are driving on your car and you want some really good Hard Rock music. This band comes from decades and decades of Hard Rock influence, going all the way to their compatriots of Europe and it shows with Ashes to Ashes, that has all the intensity, melodic hooks and quality vocals that you would expect from a band of this ilk.

This song also fulfills its role as a single quite well because it is extremely accessible: you want to listen more and more, capturing the melodies with ease and enjoying what is a perfectly crafted commercial Hard Rock song.

I’m very happy with this song because it’s a band that is clearly aware of what they want to achieve and know how to do it. Ashes to Ashes is not only a fun song and a pretty solid single, but also a testament of how much Grand Rezerva has grown throughout the years.
