Devil May Cry 5: Slaying More Than Demons

Written by on April 1, 2019

After quite a few years of waiting, fans of the saga finally get a real new game in the saga. Developed and published by Capcom, Devil May Cry 5 is the direct continuation to Devil May Cry 4, letting the DMC spin-off completely aside, for good. Released on March 8, the game received amazing reviews, praising it to be one of the best games in the saga.

The amazing visuals played a big part in the success of this amazing, action-filled title. The game is directed by Devil May Cry series veteran Hideaki Itsuno and uses the RE Engine, a photo-realistic engine used in a very stylized way of course.

Slaying demons in a very hype game, with amazing visuals and soundtrack and with a very cool gameplay system and music is what Devil May Cry 5 is all about. Satisfying combat is at the heart of this game, all three playable characters have different fighting styles, and you can have fun learning new moves on-the-go while kicking some demons back from where they came from. And not only did it received near perfect score on most video game-review sites, but it is also slaying the heck out of the selling aspect.

Devil May Cry 5 entered the sales chart as aggressively as anything In the game, making its way to the top really fast. The release week closes with a number one in the UK selling charts. Also, it smashed the Japanese selling charts, hitting up the first place on the list for this week.

Does the game hold up to the numbers?

As a whole, Devil May Cry 5 is pretty much the shiniest presentation of the saga, the game goes back to its roots, embracing them, and also bringing new things to the gameplay, new characters to the story, and new ways to expand the universe of the game. Excellent fighting system perfect for the returning fans and great for the newcomers to the saga.

Fighting hordes of demons with a variety of attacks and weapons go right along with the dynamic soundtrack of the game. The soundtrack literally is made based on what is happening on the screen when you’re fighting, adding, removing and changing soundtracks depending on what’s going on at that precise moment. And with all the changes made to bring three characters to the formula and giving them each a specific set of weapons and fighting style, the gameplay is pretty similar to the other titles in the Devil May Cry game series, so you can be sure you’ll have fun if you are a long-time fan of the saga, and rest assure that it won’t be hard to get the controllers right if you’re a newcomer.

While the game is full of action, great visuals, new and nicely done game mechanics that greatly enhance the gameplay with rich fight moves, and the game narrative received praise, it is important to note that the game is actually quite short, and has some issues, especially on the Xbox One version. The PC version, on the other hand, is almost flawless, but if you’re a console gamer then try to pick up the PS4 release if you can
